Fleet leasing · See it as a fleet buyer does

Procurement asked for whole-life cost. You sent a monthly rate.

Your terms are competitive, your service team is good and existing customers renew. But fleet buyers now build supplier shortlists by asking AI assistants and comparing whole-life cost before they send an RFQ. This playbook shows why your company isn't on that list, and what to publish so it is.

The short versionFleet leasing companies usually miss shortlists because assistants and search find no clear answers on whole-life cost, EV transition and service levels, pricing appears only as a monthly headline rate, and RFQs wait days for a reply. A published cost method, fleet-type pages and fast, owned responses fix most of it.

Why a good leasing company still misses the shortlist

Fleets aren't bought on the rate. They're bought on whole-life cost.

B2B procurement screening on whole-life cost, not on monthly headline rates, now starts before any supplier is contacted. A fleet manager or finance director asks an assistant who suits their fleet, reads a few cost comparisons, checks EV transition support and service levels, then sends an RFQ to a shortlist. A leasing company that only publishes vehicle offers and a monthly rate gives that process nothing to work with, so it is never on the list.

Why don't AI assistants recommend our fleet leasing company?

Fleet buyers increasingly ask AI assistants which leasing providers suit their fleet size, sector and EV plans. Assistants name providers whose sites explain whole-life cost, service levels and transition support specifically. A site of vehicle offers and a contact form gives them nothing to cite.

How should a fleet leasing company show whole-life cost?

Procurement compares suppliers on whole-life cost: rental, maintenance, fuel or charging, tax, insurance, downtime and end-of-contract charges. A headline monthly rate invites a narrow comparison you may lose. A published method and calculator, with stated assumptions, moves the conversation to total cost.

Why do fleet leasing enquiries stall?

Fleet decisions are slower than retail, but they still have deadlines. A supplier questionnaire acknowledged a week later, or a fleet review request passed between three people, tells procurement how service will feel. RFQs, enquiries and calls need one owner, same-day acknowledgement and a reusable answer library.

What we'd do about it

Five moves, in the order that pays.

AI shortlists?Publish costs?EV content?
Can we publish whole-life cost without giving away our pricing?

Yes. Publish the method — what's included, how each cost is calculated and which assumptions you use — and let the calculator use the buyer's own figures. You show how you think about cost without publishing a rate card.

Do fleet buyers really use AI assistants to shortlist suppliers?

Some do, alongside search, brokers and referrals, and we can't tell you how many in your market. What we can do is check whether assistants mention you for your buyers' questions, and make your answers easy to cite.

Should we compete on EV transition content?

If you support it in practice, yes. Fleet managers are asked to plan the switch and look for suppliers who explain charging, mixed fleets and phasing plainly. We avoid savings claims you can't evidence.

How do we handle tax and incentive questions across markets?

Explain the principles and point to official sources, dated and reviewed. Tax and incentive rules vary by country and change, so we keep detailed figures out of evergreen pages.

How long before a leasing company notices a difference?

RFQ handling and response fixes can show within weeks. Assistant mentions and fleet-type rankings usually take a few months, and B2B sales cycles add time before contracts appear. We don't guarantee rankings, mentions or contracts.

Do you work with fleet brokers or only with funders?

Both. Brokers need the same whole-life cost and fleet-type pages, plus a clear explanation of how they choose funders and what they handle on the customer's behalf.

Does LinkedIn really matter for a fleet leasing company?

Yes. Fleet and procurement managers check your company page and the people they'd deal with before they send an RFQ, and posts by account managers usually travel further than the company page. YouTube helps for longer cost and EV explainers. Consumer-style platforms rarely move a fleet decision.

Do we get a free website for our company?

Yes. Every monthly plan includes a free 5-page website for your company — fast, AI-readable and yours to keep. It goes live within 48 hours once your plan is active and the launch checklist is done. Your domain, hosting and any paid tools sit outside the offer and stay in your name; online shops and booking systems are quoted separately. What's included
