The framework changed. Your explainer still says it hasn't.
Your team understands the frameworks and clients trust the work. But when a finance lead gets a customer's ESG questionnaire or an investor asks for an emissions baseline, she asks an assistant what applies now — and the firm with a current, dated answer is the one she calls, not the one whose guide is a year old.
The short versionESG advisers lose clients because reporting frameworks and expectations move quickly, and buyers and assistants favour whichever firm explained the current position most recently. Dated, regularly updated explainers for each trigger, a plain account of how work is scoped and a quick reply to questionnaire deadlines fix most of it.

Why a capable adviser still loses the client
In ESG, the answer goes stale. The freshest one gets the call.
Most ESG enquiries start with a request from someone else: a customer's questionnaire, an investor's data request, a lender's condition, a tender. The person who receives it is often a finance or operations lead, not a sustainability specialist. They ask an assistant what applies now, read whichever explainer looks current, and call the firm behind it. A guide that was right last year, with no date on it, quietly loses that call.
Why don't AI assistants recommend our ESG advisory firm?
Frameworks, disclosure expectations and customer requirements change often, and buyers want to know what applies now. Assistants and search lean towards recent, clearly dated explanations. A firm whose guide predates the latest change is passed over for one that updated last month — even if its own expertise is deeper.

Should an ESG advisory firm explain its fees online?
A finance lead with a questionnaire or a first report needs a budget before she can approve anything. A page explaining what drives scope — sites, data availability, supply-chain coverage, which framework applies — and what a first phase delivers lets her plan with you in it. “Every organisation is different” leaves her guessing.

Why do ESG advisory enquiries go cold?
Supplier questionnaires and investor requests usually come with a return date, and the person handling them is often doing it for the first time. If the enquiry waits during reporting season, they find someone else or fill it in alone. A same-day reply asking for the document and deadline, with a call slot, keeps you in.

Five moves, in the order that pays.
Fix the leaks first, then grow. Scaling a funnel that loses enquiries just spends more to lose more.

Questions ESG advisers ask
Straight answers, no sales script.
Straight answers. If yours isn't here, a 30-minute call is the fastest route — no pitch, no deck.
Frameworks change constantly. How do we keep content current?
With a review calendar, not good intentions. Each key page has an owner, a visible “last updated” date and a change log, and it's reviewed when the framework it covers moves. A short dated note can go out first, with a fuller update once guidance settles.
Should an ESG advisory firm publish its fees?
Explain scope at least: what drives it, what a first phase delivers and a typical timeline. Many buyers are finance leads handling a request for the first time; they need something to take to whoever approves the budget.
How do we avoid greenwashing in our own marketing?
Make specific claims you can evidence and avoid broad ones you can't. That applies to describing your own firm and to client case studies. We don't publish impact claims without evidence and client approval, whatever the pressure to sound bold.
Our buyers aren't sustainability specialists. Who should we write for?
Usually the finance, operations or compliance lead who has just received a request and needs to know what it means and what to prepare. Write for that person and specialists will still find it useful.
Is it worth publishing quickly when a new rule is announced?
Yes, if it's accurate and clearly dated. Buyers search within days of a change, and a short, careful note from a named expert is often the page that gets read and picked up. Update it as the detail becomes clear.
How long before this brings in new clients?
Reply-time fixes can show within weeks. Refreshed explainers can be picked up fairly quickly when a topic is moving, but new pages usually take a few months. We don't guarantee rankings, AI mentions or engagements.
Which social platforms matter most for an ESG advisory firm?
LinkedIn first, with YouTube for webinar replays and explainers. Finance and operations leads follow advisers who explain what changed and what to do next, so date every post and keep it practical. X is useful for quick notes when a rule is announced. Avoid pledge-style posts and impact claims you can't evidence.
Do we get a free website for our firm?
Yes. Every monthly plan includes a free 5-page website for your firm — fast, AI-readable and yours to keep. It goes live within 48 hours once your plan is active and the launch checklist is done. Your domain, hosting and any paid tools sit outside the offer and stay in your name; online shops and booking systems are quoted separately. What's included
