Your page never said it runs small. Marketplace reviews did.
Your clothes are good and your photography is better than most. Yet shoppers who land on a product page leave to buy the same style on a marketplace, or buy two sizes and send one back. This playbook shows where those orders go — and why so many return in the post.
The short versionMost fashion stores lose orders when the product page doesn't answer fit, sizing and returns, when category pages miss how people search (fabric, cut, occasion), and when sizing questions on Instagram or WhatsApp wait a day. Fit answers on the page, use-case collections and one reply queue fix this — not a bigger ad budget.

Why a good store still loses the order
Shoppers don't compare fabric. They compare certainty about fit.
A shopper can't touch the fabric or try the shirt on, so they look for the next best thing: the model's height and size, the measurements, what other buyers said about fit, and what happens if it's wrong. A marketplace listing with dozens of “runs small” reviews answers that better than a beautiful page with a generic size chart. Whoever removes the doubt about fit and returns usually gets the order — and keeps it.

Why do marketplaces outrank our fashion store for our own styles?
Fashion discovery now starts on marketplaces, shopping tabs and AI shopping answers, not on your homepage. They favour listings with complete product data — fabric, fit, sizes in stock, price, reviews. A store with thin feed titles and no use-case collections is on page three before anyone sees the clothes.

The returns question nobody answers

Answered pageExchange cost · who pays return postage · refund timingQuoted by AI
Should a fashion store show return costs on the product page?
For clothing, the real price is the price plus the cost of getting the size wrong. Shoppers want to know whether an exchange is free, who pays return postage and how long a refund takes before they choose a size. “See our returns policy” in the footer reads as a catch. Clear terms beside the price convert better, and they're what AI shopping answers quote.

Why do fashion shoppers stop replying after asking about sizes?
“I'm usually a 10 but between sizes — M or L?” is a buying signal, usually sent on Instagram or WhatsApp in the evening. Answered the next morning, the shopper has already ordered elsewhere or bought both sizes to return one. DMs, WhatsApp and site chat need one queue, an owner and saved fit answers.

Questions fashion stores ask
Straight answers, no sales script.
Straight answers. If yours isn't here, a 30-minute call is the fastest route — no pitch, no deck.
Should we sell on marketplaces as well as our own store?
Often yes, but on purpose. Marketplaces catch shoppers who search there first; your own store keeps the customer relationship and the margin. The mistake is letting a marketplace listing carry better fit information and reviews than your own product page.
How do we cut “didn't fit” returns without losing sales?
Answer fit before the order: model height and size worn, garment measurements, how the cut compares with your other styles and fit notes from reviews. We test each change against the old page so you can see whether it helped, rather than assuming.
Is it worth making pages for every colour and fabric combination?
Only where people actually search for that combination and you have enough stock to fill the page. We generate collection pages from real search demand and your catalogue, and quality gates stop thin or duplicate pages going live.
Do we need to offer free returns to compete?
That's a margin decision only you can make. What matters for conversion is that the terms are clear and visible before checkout. A clearly priced exchange often reads better than a vague “free returns” that turns out to have conditions.
How long before a fashion store notices a difference?
Product-page, feed and reply-time fixes can show in conversion within a few weeks because they plug existing leaks. New collection pages usually take a few months to rank, depending on competition and season. We don't guarantee rankings or sales.
Can you work around our seasonal drops?
Yes. Collection pages and product data for a drop should be live before launch, not after, and creative tests are planned around your calendar. We plan sprints back from each launch date.
Which social platforms matter most for a fashion brand?
Instagram for discovery, with try-on Reels that state the model's height and size, and WhatsApp or DMs for the “which size?” question. Facebook still matters for an older audience and its shop. Add YouTube Shorts for try-ons once the weekly rhythm runs. Every post should name the item and link straight to it.
Do we get a free website for our store?
Yes. Every monthly plan includes a free 5-page website for your store — fast, AI-readable and yours to keep. It goes live within 48 hours once your plan is active and the launch checklist is done. Your domain, hosting and any paid tools sit outside the offer and stay in your name; online shops and booking systems are quoted separately. What's included
