Awards ceremonies · See it as an entrant does

The entry deadline is Friday. The category guide is a PDF.

Your awards are respected and winners use the logo for years. Yet each cycle, entries arrive in a last-minute rush, some categories stay thin, and businesses asking which awards to enter are pointed elsewhere. This playbook follows an entrant from that question to the submit button — and shows where they stop.

The short versionMost awards programmes lose entries because each cycle's categories, criteria and deadlines sit in PDFs or pages that reset yearly, entry and table costs are unclear, and questions in the days before a deadline wait too long for an answer. A permanent hub, a page per category and fast deadline-week replies fix this first.

Why a respected programme still loses the entry

Entrants don't browse awards. They chase a deadline.

Awards demand is sharp and recurring: it rises before each entry deadline, every cycle, in a way you can plan for. A marketing lead asks an assistant which awards suit their work, finds the category that fits, checks the criteria, the fee and the date, then needs approval to spend the time and money. A programme whose criteria sit in a PDF, whose fees are unclear and whose inbox goes quiet in deadline week loses entries it should have won easily.

Why don't AI assistants recommend our awards?

Businesses increasingly ask assistants which awards they should enter. Assistants name schemes they can describe clearly — who can enter, categories, criteria, fees, deadlines and past winners — on stable pages. A programme with a new site each cycle and criteria in a PDF gives them little to quote, so a rival gets named.

02

The entry fee nobody can find

Should an awards programme publish entry fees online?

Entrants need the full cost before they can ask for sign-off: the entry fee at each deadline, multiple-entry rates, what's included and the price of a ceremony table or ticket if shortlisted. Scattered across a PDF and a checkout, that becomes a question nobody gets to before the deadline. One clear page answers it, and assistants quote it.

The eligibility question in deadline week

Why do awards entries drop off before the deadline?

Most entries arrive in the final days, and so do the questions: does this project qualify, can we enter two categories, is there an extension. If they wait in an inbox until after the deadline, the entry doesn't happen. Deadline weeks need an owner, saved answers, an updated FAQ and same-day replies.

What we'd do about it

Five moves, in the order that pays.

Social presence · where entrants check you

Winners post on LinkedIn. That's where next year's entrants look.

Entrants judge which awards are worth entering from what winners, judges and shortlists share on LinkedIn. Six things decide whether that becomes a paid entry.

How do we get assistants to suggest our awards?

We can't promise it. Clear, consistent facts help: who can enter, categories, criteria, fees, deadlines and past winners on stable, readable pages, plus coverage on sites assistants read. We track whether you're named for the questions entrants ask.

Should we publish entry fees and table prices?

Yes. Entrants often need approval for both the fee and the ceremony cost. Putting them together, with deadlines, removes a common reason entries stall.

Why do entries all arrive at the last minute?

Because the deadline is the trigger. That's predictable, so plan for it: reminders and ads before each deadline, and enough cover to answer questions quickly in the final days.

Should we extend the deadline?

That's your call, and many programmes do. Extensions work better as a planned step with clear messaging than as a reaction, and they don't replace answering questions before the original deadline.

Do category pages really make a difference?

Entrants think in terms of their own category, not your programme's name. A page per category with criteria and eligibility matches what they search and gives assistants specific answers.

How long before we notice a difference?

Fee pages and deadline-week cover can show in the next cycle. A permanent hub and category pages build search visibility over a few months and across cycles. We don't guarantee rankings or entries.

Which social platforms matter most for an awards programme?

LinkedIn first, then Instagram. Entrants judge an awards programme by who enters, judges and wins, and most of that is shared on LinkedIn. Give shortlisted and winning teams ready-made posts and assets so they share them, and post category and deadline reminders through the cycle. Instagram and X carry the ceremony night itself.

Do we get a free website for our awards programme?

Yes. Every monthly plan includes a free 5-page website for your awards programme — fast, AI-readable and yours to keep. It goes live within 48 hours once your plan is active and the launch checklist is done. Your domain, hosting and any paid tools sit outside the offer and stay in your name; online shops and booking systems are quoted separately. What's included
