Electronics manufacturing · See it as a hardware buyer does
They screened you on certifications. You list none of them.
Your lines are well run and your existing OEMs stay. But a hardware team looking for a new contract manufacturer filters on capability, certification and volume before sending a single BOM, and an assistant or search result gives them three names without yours. This playbook shows where those RFQs go.
The short versionElectronics manufacturers lose new programmes because buyers screen capability, certifications and volume range online before sending an RFQ, and most EMS sites state none of it clearly; quoting inputs and NRE go unexplained; and BOM quotes take too long. Capability pages, a clear RFQ checklist and fast routing fix this.

Why a capable EMS still loses the programme
Buyers screen you before they talk. On capability and certificates.
A hardware team choosing a contract manufacturer builds a shortlist before anyone picks up the phone. They ask an assistant or search for assembly in their sector, then check certifications, workmanship class, volume range, test capability and whether you do box build. Only then does a BOM go out. If your site says “quality electronics manufacturing” and keeps the certificates in a sales deck, you're screened out without knowing you were considered.

Why don't AI assistants recommend us as a contract manufacturer?
Electronics buyers filter on capability before contact: certifications, workmanship class, volume range, SMT and test equipment, sectors served. Assistants answer the same screening questions. If none of it is stated plainly on your site, a competitor that published its capability page gets named, even if your lines are better.

Should an EMS company explain its pricing and NRE online?
Nobody can price an assembly without a BOM, but buyers want to know how you'll price it: NRE and stencils, turnkey or consigned components, how sourcing and alternates are handled, and what drives lead time. “Send us your files” with no explanation makes your quote hard to compare, and buyers default to the clearer one.

Why do our EMS RFQs go to competitors?
An RFQ for a new programme usually goes to several EMS providers at once, often with a build date already set. If the quote needs three rounds of emails for missing files and then takes a week, the buyer has picked whoever answered clearly first. A structured RFQ form and same-day routing to engineering fix most of it.

Questions EMS companies ask
Straight answers, no sales script.
Straight answers. If yours isn't here, a 30-minute call is the fastest route — no pitch, no deck.
Yes. Buyers screen on them before contact, and assistants answer the same questions. List what you hold, the sectors it covers and your workmanship class, with certificates downloadable or available on request. Only list what's current.
Online quoting sites win our small-batch work. Should we compete on price?
Usually not. Explain your NPI process, DFM review and how a prototype moves into production with you. Teams that plan to scale often prefer to start with the manufacturer who'll build the volume, if they can see how it works.
Do we need to publish prices?
No. What helps is explaining the structure: one-off NRE and stencils, turnkey or consigned components, how sourcing and alternates are handled, and what drives lead time. That makes your quote easier to compare and attracts better-prepared RFQs.
Most of our work comes from referrals. Why invest in search?
Referred buyers still check your capability page before sending a BOM, and new programmes are often shortlisted through research. A clear site helps both, and tracking shows which referrers actually turn into work.
How long before we see more RFQs?
A better RFQ form and same-day routing can show within weeks. Capability and sector pages usually take a few months to rank and appear in assistant answers, and programmes then follow your normal qualification cycle. We don't guarantee rankings or RFQs.
Can you write about sensitive defence or medical work?
We describe capabilities and standards in general terms and never name customers or programmes without permission. Your team approves every page, and anything under confidentiality stays off the site.
Which social platforms matter most for an electronics manufacturer?
LinkedIn, because hardware engineers and supply-chain leads check your certifications, lines and people before sharing a BOM. YouTube makes line tours and test walk-throughs easy to share inside their team. WhatsApp helps for quick lead-time questions. List only certifications you hold, with their scope.
Do we get a free website for our company?
Yes. Every monthly plan includes a free 5-page website for your company — fast, AI-readable and yours to keep. It goes live within 48 hours once your plan is active and the launch checklist is done. Your domain, hosting and any paid tools sit outside the offer and stay in your name; online shops and booking systems are quoted separately. What's included
