They asked for recyclable pouches. Your site never says it.
You run good lines, hold print quality and ship on time. But a brand switching to recyclable or compostable formats asks an assistant or searches by material, format and MOQ, and finds a converter whose pages spell those out. This playbook shows where those briefs go, and what we'd fix first.
The short versionPackaging manufacturers lose new briefs because their sites describe capability in general terms while buyers search by material, format, compliance and recyclability; unit cost, MOQ and tooling charges go unexplained; and sample and quote requests wait days. Material and format pages, clear quoting terms and fast routing fix this.

Why a good converter still loses the brief
Nobody searches “packaging”. They search material and format.
A brand moving away from multi-layer laminates, or a start-up needing its first printed run, doesn't browse converters. They ask for a material, a format and a minimum order, such as recyclable stand-up pouch, paper mailer or food-safe tray, and check compliance and end-of-life claims before anything else. Then they want a sample. If your site says “bespoke packaging solutions” and hides MOQ, the brief goes to whoever named the material and answered first.

Why don't brands find us when they search for recyclable packaging?
Buyers search by material, format and compliance, such as recyclable mono-material film, compostable bags or recycled-content trays, and ask assistants for suppliers with low MOQs. A capability page that says “flexible packaging” gives them nothing to match, so a converter or broker that named each material and format gets the shortlist.

Should packaging manufacturers show MOQ and unit pricing?
Packaging buyers know price depends on quantity, but they need to know roughly how: where your MOQ sits, what plates or tooling cost, how print colours and material change the unit price, and what samples cost. “Request a quote” for every question means they send the brief to five suppliers and pick the clearest.

Why do packaging enquiries go cold?
A brief with artwork attached is usually going to several suppliers at once, often with a launch date behind it. If samples and a quote take a week, the brand has already chosen. Briefs need an owner the day they land, and a follow-up when the sample is delivered.
What we'd do about it
Five moves, in the order that pays.
Fix the leaks first, then grow. Scaling a funnel that loses enquiries just spends more to lose more.

Questions packaging companies ask
Straight answers, no sales script.
Straight answers. If yours isn't here, a 30-minute call is the fastest route — no pitch, no deck.
Can we say our packaging is recyclable or sustainable on the website?
Yes, if the claim is specific and you can support it: which material, recyclable where and under what conditions, and what evidence you hold. Vague green wording invites questions and can break the environmental-claims rules in your markets. We write claims you can stand behind.
Should we publish our MOQ?
Usually yes, or at least a range by format. Brands below it leave early instead of taking estimator time, and the ones who fit arrive knowing what to expect. You can still say that MOQ depends on material and print.
Print brokers and marketplaces outrank us. Can we compete?
Often, yes. Brokers win with lots of format pages, but they can't show your barrier data, line compatibility, compliance documents or production photos. Pages built around those details are more useful to a technical buyer, and to assistants.
We supply big brands through tenders. Does search matter?
Tender lists are often built from research done beforehand, and packaging technologists look up suppliers when exploring a new material. Being findable for that material is how you get invited in the first place.
How long before we see more briefs?
Routing and follow-up fixes can show within weeks because they stop losing briefs you already receive. Material and format pages usually take a few months to rank and appear in assistant answers. We don't guarantee rankings or orders.
Do you write the technical content?
We research and draft it from your specs, then your technical team checks every material, barrier and compliance statement before it goes live. Nothing is published that your team hasn't approved.
Which social platforms matter most for a packaging converter?
LinkedIn for brand, procurement and packaging teams who check materials and the people behind them. Instagram for founders of smaller brands who discover converters through finished packs. WhatsApp handles sample and MOQ questions. Make recyclable or compostable claims only where you hold evidence, in line with the rules on green claims.
Do we get a free website for our company?
Yes. Every monthly plan includes a free 5-page website for your company — fast, AI-readable and yours to keep. It goes live within 48 hours once your plan is active and the launch checklist is done. Your domain, hosting and any paid tools sit outside the offer and stay in your name; online shops and booking systems are quoted separately. What's included
